Project type: Competition (team of 3: Marius Mocanu and John Kirtley)
Name: 120 Hours Student Architectural Competition
Year: 2025
Location: TullinLokka, Oslo, Norway
Competition Theme: “Lost and Found”

“Our proposal explores the loss of childhood nostalgia, inspired by the song Vi tenner våre lykter. We reflect on a time when play, nature, and discovery shaped our upbringing, now fading in an urbanised Norway. Revisiting this lost connection, our design reinterprets the gapahuk, as shelter, and an ascending ramp inspired by the act of growing up. Integrating play and sensory experiences into Oslo’s city centre. Addressing green deprivation, it provides outdoor space for students and visitors to gather, reconnect, and enjoy natural light. The masterplan moves through childhood, young adulthood, and older generations, creating a playful, layered landscape of seating, meeting points, and nature, rekindling lost bonds across time and community.”
