BUILDING DESIGN
THE INVISIBLE GALLERY
The Invisible Gallery is to be located in Canterbury, UK. And on the Abbots mill project, is a structure to discover.
The building's reflective surface makes the Gallery perfectly blend into the landscape. The reflection of the building reminds us that the Great River Stour engulfs the site. The gallery itself is an omage to the nature and river that surrounds the site. With its reflective alucobond material, the gallery is both sustainable and fire proof, making the building not harmful to its surroundings. With both skylights, great double height spaces and big windows; that can be covered if necessary, the gallery is mostly entirely lit by natural lighting. Almost invisible from the street, visitors and bypasses will then wonder, what is hiding behind those trees.
